5 Sign Of Lung Cancer

In cancer, but especially lung cancer,  there may be some signs that can be mistaken for other illnesses, such as the flu, cold or fever. But there are some signs that you may not want to pass off as other types of sickness, especially if you smoke.

While anyone can be at risk for developing lung cancer, depending on such variables as age, gender, diet, exercise and overall genetics, smokers are much more likely to contract lung cancer.

The reason for this is in the chemicals that make up a cigarette. There are several known carcinogen causing poisons in cigarettes. smoke a cigarette in your lifetime and this wouldn’t be an issue. However, if you are someone that smokes 2 or 3 packs a day everyday, then you may want to think about dismissing symptoms you may have. Among those symptoms that you should give serious consideration to getting checked out are:

  • A chronic cough. Any cough that lasts for longer than three weeks should be looked at.
  • Chest pain. In this case the chest pain would be continuous, but vague and often in different areas of the chest.
  • A fever that keeps recurring. Fevers, when treated quickly, generally don’t last for more that a couple of days, break and thats it. But if a fever is broke and consistently comes back quickly, this may be a sign of something more.
  • Chest tightness and shortness of breath. We all experience shortness of breath at times, through exercise, when we’re sick or if we’re in a polluted area. Chest tightness can sometimes happen due to high levels of stress as well. However, when these two happen frequently or never seem to abate, then there is cause for concern.
  • Blood when you cough. Sometimes, in winter, if it is cold enough, breathing through your mouth can cause blood to be seen when you cough. This is due to the lungs not being able to handle the cold air being passed to them. But if you consistently get blood in your phlegm when you cough no matter what time of year, then it is time to see your doctor.
